Planting trees

The tree planting has started! Classes 1,2 and 4 have been out in the lovely spring sunshine planting trees around the school. Every child in the school will have planted a tree by the end of the week.
It's great to be outside in the sun and the children spotted lots of signs of new life such as flowers, buds and insects.

Story planning

Class 1 have been planning their own stories about going to another planet. They have had to think about the characters, the setting and the sequence of events.

Tree Planting for the whole school

Our programme of tree planting has begun. Today John Garrett and Tony planted 160 trees in the trickier areas around the school. They have organised batches of trees for each class and allocated specific areas to plant. Many of the trees will form hedgerows. Each child will get to plant a tree next week. The class will then have the responsibility of maintaining the trees. A kind parent is donating pond plants and Mrs Jarrett has very kindly planted up the pots by the school entrance which look beautiful. A huge thank you to all of our kind parents who give up so much of their time to help us create a great learning environment.

Devising science investigations based on catapults in Class 6

This week we focused on recognising and controlling variables and taking repeated measurements for accuracy. Each group devised their own investigation based on our questions from last week. There was ammunition flying everywhere! Some pupils were recognised in Achievement Assembly for their methodical approach.

Ash Wednesday

The school went to church today for the Ash Wednesday service. The ashes are a symbol of being sorry.

At last - time to make and eat our pancakes!

Mixing the batter.
Waiting patiently!
Yum!
So good, we even used our fingers to lick our plates clean!

Please Miss, can we have some more?
