Bug Hotel: Phase 1...
Wow! What a day! There must be some exhausted little Class 2ers out there this evening. A busy morning of Bug Hotel building in the most glorious mud followed by some super swimming and all topped off with an evening of stories and songs with the fabulous Rob and Dex. Phewph! Here are a few pictures from our morning doing our bit for Ground Force Day...
Ground Force Day Number 1
Well, my goodness me, what can be achieved in one day with the help of our fantastic volunteers. The sun shone all day which was amazing. The children worked so hard and thoroughly enjoyed the day. They were a credit to the school.

A huge thank you to Mr Garrett, Mr and Mrs Taylor, Mr Reynolds, Mr Gray, Mrs Hedges and the Halifax Crew, Mrs Hastie, Mr Marlow. Thank you to Wickes in Barnstaple for donating supplies and the Halifax for donating staff time and contributing to our fundraising.
In 19 years of teaching, I don't think I have had such a day of help and support from parents and friends. Thank you. I am now off home for pizza and a soft drink!

Introducing the new School Council
Our new School Council Representatives have been voted for by their classmates. We have two representatives for each class. They will be involved in decision making in the school and are available for their classmates to talk to about school issues such as play times activities and outdoor space ideas. They will meet with Mrs Theobald once a month.
Here they are; the friendly version and then the serious!
Countdown in Class 4
For today's morning work we had to make 455 using the numbers 8, 5, 6, 4, 75 and 100 just like on countdown. We got close but didn't manage to make it. Our answers are below. If you manage to make it please put your solution in the comment box.

Fire Safety with Year 2.
Today we were very lucky to have been joined by Mrs Mason from the fire safety team. She came to talk to year 2 about issues around fire safety and we came away with lots to think about. We learned 3 vital messages to help us stay safe: "Get Out, Stay Out, Call 999!"; "Stop, drop and roll!", and "Matches matches never touch, they can hurt you very much!". Mrs Mason said it would be a really good idea to go home and talk about what whether we all have evacuation procedures for if the worst happens and we have a fire in our homes. What an important message! Certainly gave us a lot to think about...

Exploring 3d shape.
Class 2 were challenged to build either a rocket, a robot or a a house, using 3d shapes. We had a look at what each team had done and tried to name as many of the shapes as we could.
