Songwriting in Class 3!

This morning, Tom and Jamie from Yard 1 Studios in Bideford visited Class 3 to lead a music workshop. The children thoroughly enjoyed listened to Jamie's singing rendition of The Gruffalo! The children then learnt about the main elements of any song and generated a word bank to help create our own song. Class 5 also came to join in the fun and we soon had a few verses and a chorus for our song titled 'What Grows in my Garden?' It was a very silly song!

Class 3's trip to The Big Sheep and sleepover at school!

Class 3 went on a trip to the big sheep yesterday. We had an awesome time. We watched the sheep show and we really liked the sheep which kept ringing the bell! We lined up to go on the swan rides and the man forgot the code but it was worth waiting for we splashed through the glassy pond having the best time of our lives, it was SO MUCH FUN. My favourite part was when we went on the mini wheel because it was funny watching everyone else slowly going around.The last ride we went on was the twister he put us on his highest pace and the fastest it could go it was amazing looking at the view of the big sheep and what our lovely teachers have organized for us today BEST DAY EVER.

In the evening we went back to school and did some storytelling activities with Joe. We heated the water for our hot chocolates outside. It was so fun sleeping in school with all the class.

Year 3's natural sculptures

On Wednesday afternoon, class 3 started looking at Andy Goldsworthy, a Scottish artist who uses natural materials to create artwork. The children worked in small groups to collect natural materials around the schools and then created their artwork on the key stage 1 playground. 

Class 3's Mini World Cup Tournament

Class 3 had a fantastic start to their football tournament this week! The children have been split into 5 teams and each team are representing a different country competing in the World Cup- Mexico, Ivory Coast, Portugal, Australia and Japan. We have been researching these countries in the classroom but it was finally time for the teams to compete against one another... 

Each child in each team had a role to fulfil; some were managers, coaches and assistant coaches, equipment officers, captains and press officers. Everyone took their role very seriously and worked really hard. We had some excellent match reports to read by the press officers and some children refereed the games. It was a super afternoon and we can't wait to carry on the tournament next week! 

Police visit to Class 3

On Wednesday, Class 3 had a visit from the local Police Community Support Officer John McGovern. He came to talk to us about his role as a police officer as well as reminding us about road and bike safety. We asked him lots of questions and we even had the opportunity to try on some of the uniform!

Sharing The Easter Story

On Monday, Class 3 went to visit Reception to share their Easter Story booklets. The children really enjoyed making these over the last couple of weeks and very much enjoyed sharing them with the younger children.
