Hard Tack

Class 1 have been cooking and eating hard tack (sea biscuits) today. These biscuits would have been the main food when pirates were out on long voyages. Kept dry, they can last for years apparently.

Class 6 Forest School Group B

Joe taught us what kind of wood to collect for our fires.

Searching for the right kind of wood.
Mrs Scibilia, or is it David Attenborough?
Yum!
Everyone made a successful fire and enjoyed their toasted treat.

We had to make sure our fires were out completely.

New curriculum evening

A big thank you to all who joined us for the new curriculum evening. It was lovely to see so many parents, carers and governors here for the event. Thanks also to those who organised the talk and Mrs. Northcott who allowed everyone to see her classroom and the new curriculum in practice.

Great fire boys!
Yummy, toasted marshmallows.

Our group found it a bit tricky. Come on girls!

Second helpings! Good job Mr. Bumble isn't watching you!
Eventually everyone had a 'roaring' fire.

Please have a look at (and follow!) Class 2's blog for more fantastic photos of our day out at Abbotsham Cliffs. What a wonderful day for our fantastic trip to Abbotsham Cliifs. The children were fab, and behaved brilliantly all day. I saw so many examples of really kind behaviour, from helping each other over stiles to offering to carry each other's lunch boxes, all without prompting. Nobody complained about the walk and everybody showed real resilience. The children showed fantastic collaboration and resourcefulness when the build their pebble pirate ships and it was lovely to see everyone having so much fun. None of this could have happened without the fantastic support of the parents who came along with us and got stuck in to all of the activities, so thanks so much to you all. The children will be writing the captions for these pictures and more tomorrow,so stand by for updates. http://sthelensclass2.blogspot.co.uk/ Please have a look at Class 2s blog for more amazing photos of what we got up to on our walk to the cliffs...

KS1 hit the beach

Reception and key stage one took a stroll down to Abbotsham Cliffs today as part of their pirate topic. They created a whole fleet of pirate ships using stones, flowers, driftwood and anything else they could use!
The children did brilliantly and managed the walk there and back without any fuss.
A huge thank you to all the adult helpers who came and helped make this trip so enjoyable.

Class 4 cricket session 2

Ethan & Callum are experienced cricket players so knew what to do . And while his group practiced bowling first the others where doing catching/throwing drills.
Some of the groups were going to do the bowling soon and it was with Mark/James. While Mark helped out strugglers,James moved on to the next group.

Class 3's Mini World Cup Tournament

Class 3 had a fantastic start to their football tournament this week! The children have been split into 5 teams and each team are representing a different country competing in the World Cup- Mexico, Ivory Coast, Portugal, Australia and Japan. We have been researching these countries in the classroom but it was finally time for the teams to compete against one another...

Each child in each team had a role to fulfil; some were managers, coaches and assistant coaches, equipment officers, captains and press officers. Everyone took their role very seriously and worked really hard. We had some excellent match reports to read by the press officers and some children refereed the games. It was a super afternoon and we can't wait to carry on the tournament next week!
